Dressage
West Somerset Riding Club members participate in dressage training and competitions. The Club runs several competitions during the summer months, both on grass and on a surface, and occasionally a winter competition at a neighbouring indoor arena.

West Somerset and Devon Dressage Championships 2012
The following Riding Clubs, Taunton, Exeter, Witheridge, West Somerset, Quantock, North Devon, Sid & Otter Valley and Blackdown Hills will be running qualifiers at their dressage shows for the final which will be held at Stockland Lovell Manor, Bridgwater on Saturday 20th October, 2012.
The Series will have Prelim and Novice sections.
2012 Rules
New for 2012 will be an Elementary Class at the Championships. Riders do not need to qualify and it is open to all riders and horses who have no more than 100 BD Points on the day of the show.

Tricia and Gem will take you through their DTM journey, from their first test 7 years ago, to their
X Factor appearance in 2011.
Tricia will be playing or riding to 7 tracks, showing you how her DTM story has evolved.

WSRC dressage results at the Taunton Show (Area dressage competition)
Senior Novice Dressage Team:- 2nd in the National Qualifier ( only one point behind the winners!); 3rd in the Area 12 Championship
There were also individual successes. In the Area Qualifiers, Gemma Heymer & Elmhurst Archie were 5th in their arena, Gwenda Bassett and Cullinghurst Miss Gainey were 3rd in their arena and Esther Freeman and Emerald Special were 2nd in their arena. Esther has also qualified for the RC Nationals as the highest placed individual, not part of the winning team.
Senior Open Dressage Team;- this team was reduced to 3 members due to a last minute lame horse. Despite this the team finished a creditable 5th place in the National Qualifier.
There were also individual placings in the National Qualifier for Maggie Wilson and Intitnice 4th in their arena and Jenny Lo Vel and Bingo Little who were 3rd in their arena in the National Qualifier and the Area 12 Championship.
WSRC dressage results in Rounds 1 and 2 of the qualifiers for the Royal Windsor Horse Show Riding Club Dressage Championships.
Four riders qualified at the Conquest Centre competitions for Round 2 of the qualifying competition (held at Badgworth on 27th February). Hazel Grundy did not go to Badgworth so the Club was represented by Gwenda Bassett and Esther Freeman. Esther and Emerald Special finished in 2nd, Esther and Annandale Seaspray finished in 3rd ( 70% + scores for both horses) and Gwenda and Cullinghurst Miss Gainey finished in 4th. Unfortunately this was not sufficient to qualify for RWHS, but the rider who qualified finished 3rd in the final competition thus posting a very good result for Area 12.
