British Riding Clubs Area 12

The British Riding Club movement is divided up into geographical areas; we are one of 31 clubs in Area 12 which covers West Devon, Dorset, West Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and is the largest BRC area. Each area holds annual qualifying competitions in most disciplines and we aim to send representative teams to as many as possible. The top teams from each qualifing competition then go forward to the Riding Club National Championships.

In the winter there are national Winter Novice Indoor Show Jumping Championships and Winter Dressage Championships. Area 12 runs qualifiers for both these events.

In the summer there is the Festival of the Horse (for which Area hunter trials may be qualifiers), the BRC National Championships (area dressage and SJ qualifiers), and the BRC Horse Trials Championships area horse trials qualifiers). The DTM final is held in the autumn (at Aintree) and there is an area qualifier.

at Bickenhall

The West Somerset Team of Mel Julian (Slieve) Penny Hurley (Rex) and Anne Hand (Bugsy) enjoyed their rounds over a substantial but inviting course. Unfortunately they were not quite fast enough to get into the ribbons, but their solid performances bode well for the future. see Results page
